Essential Dermatology for GPs

  • l Up to 25% of all GP consultations relate to the skin
  • l Dermatology is an area of medicine that is facing major changes from secondary to primary care
  • l The majority of GPs have little or no training in dermatology
  • l Hospital referral rates for dermatology are consistently high

The Primary Care Dermatology Society is an independent educational organisation of GPs with an interest in dermatology. We have 1100 members nationwide representing GPs as well as GPwSI.

For 17 years we have provided a comprehensive and varied mixture of educational meetings for our members and additional but occasional day long meetings for those with limited knowledge in
dermatology e.g. VTS, new GPs as well as those who missed out on dermatology training.

This series of 10 full day "Essential Dermatology" meetings is in response to demands of VTS organisers and those involved in developing primary and intermediate care services. The programme covers the essential information to enable a GP (plus some dermatology nurse practitioners) to cope with the vast majority of conditions encountered in day to day general practice.
